Rabies is transmitted to humans normally by a bite or scratch from an infected mammal such as dogs, cats and monkeys. It's found throughout the world, but is especially common in Asia, Africa and Central & South America. Symptoms can appear as soon as a few days after exposure, and once symptoms appear rabies is almost always fatal. You should consider visiting our Coventry travel vaccination clinic if you are planning to travel to a high risk area, ideally at least 28 days before you travel (although rapid schedules are available). 3 doses over the course of 7 to 28 days is required
